It seems to me that what ought to be measured is not student achievement--I couldn't agree more with Mark on this basic point; what ought to be measured is whether teaching practices have changed in the direction that the project desired. Changes in the teaching of science, the use of the materials as intended, etc. are the things that should be looked at in classrooms themeselves. And I do not mean relying on self-reports. Systematic classroom observations. What do you think?
