I enjoyed the article. I had never heard the expression the "popularity standard" which I found interesting. I think it is something that we have not used enough recently with the emphasis on the impact on student achievement....the gold standard.
The idea of the "popularity standard" connected with another presenter's idea (HASP project) about what does inquiry-centered instruction do for students, beyond what can be measured on standardized assessments, that is significantly different from traditional approaches and is sufficiently important that the public (parents, business, school boards) should care enough to invest in it. I would like more information on this topic as well.
