Ben,

I agree with you. Mark and I have different viewpoints with regard to student achievement (even though he is the external evaluator on our two LSC projects and I am a superintendent). I beleive that being data driven withregard to student achievement is necessary and important. In many ways we will only improve reading and mathematics so much by doing more of it. Our
students need a content base of real world experiences to apply reading and mathematics skills. Our programs need to find the spill-over effects and nuture them, not at the expense of science content.
