The theme that gets mentioned here fromtime to time, but not elaborated, is this: if we are to be data-driven, what data will drive us?
For me, this is one source of the disconnect between teacher prof dev and student achievement, which seems to me not to be one outcome variable, but several. It may well be that people doing teacher PD and also immmersed in the accountability debate are in a valuable position to articulate a more nuanced view of what can and cannot realistically be measured. Assessment should be pedagogical, and this has not yet been achieved...
