Publicizing Your Project - Jeanne Century

The Valle Imperial Project in Science has been somewhat successful in media coverage for our project. To date, we have had 3 editorials and 31 stories or pictures with captions. This was accomplished from the beginning by including the Business Roundtable from our local Chamber of Commerce meeting with the editorial board of the newspaper. The business community, not we the educators, stressed the importance and impact of our project. It has not been a problem since that time in getting coverage.

Also, the school district places an eight page quarterly insert into the local newspaper (like a supermarket ad) describing to the community programs, people and policies. There is always a story or a picture of the science program. This is a very cheap way of communicating and telling your story your way.
