Much research has been done on what is gained from inquiry and how this should be measured. A National Academy Committee on which I was a member recently released a report, Knowing What Students Know, that has many examples and case studies. The report can be viewed or printed free from the National Academy Press website.

What answers did you find to your own question from your own project? What types of measures did you use for student achievement, and how did students do on those measures?
