I am surprised you feel math and science cannot be mixed at the elementary level. If the issue is teachers preparing students for tests, then what type of preparation are they doing that would eliminate science? Drill and skills preparation for math tests is not productive in the long run, nor is it consistent with the goals of the NSF initiative.
