AN ANALOGY FOR MIKE!! - Mark St. John

Mark,

Very nice analogy. If only schools, teachers and students were only this simple. Without including the impact on students in the discussion of the effectiveness of a program we are missing the point. We have too many feel good - fuzzy programs out there that rate well from a classroom observation, pd, use of materials standpoint, but can show no impact on students. We need to discuss this whole issue further. I think you know the best venue for this to take place. In the contxt of sustainability, student achievement is a very real issue for districts. To ingnore this or to suggest that it is not important, is not clearly reading the reality of our situation.

Mike
