I agree with Mark that the current focus on student achievement is limiting the potential of LSC projects to build long-term capacity. Assessment is a reality - how do we handle the push for accountability without limiting the potential of the LSC to build capacity? without limiting students' opportunity to rich worthwhile learning experiences?

Let's take the long-term course, build capacity and bring balance to the types of assessments used and the time committed to assessment and preparation for assessment/evaluation. (And-it just does not make sense to judge PD by student assessment results.) One standard for assessment: assessment should promote learning of worthwhile content/process and students should learn as they are assessed (and rehearse for assessment).
