Sounds like you had a lot of reporting to handle! The recent National Academy of Sciences report, Knowing What Students Know, has a variety of examples of ways teachers can unobtrusively measure student performance on variables much richer than those on standardized tests. The report can be viewed for free on the National Academy Press website.
